Healthgrid Meeting in Lyon, France, January 16-17, 2003

Aim

The aim of the conference is to create a bigger awareness about the possibilities and advantages linked to the deployment of GRID technology in health. In this context "Health" does not involve only clinical practice but covers the whole range of information from molecular level (genetic and proteomic information) over cells and tissues, to the individual and finally the population level (social healthcare). Grid technology offers the opportunity to create a common working backbone for all different members of this large "Health family" and will hopefully lead to an increased awareness and interoperability among disciplines.
The goal of the conference is to be the first corner-stone in the creation of a European/international grid infostructure for health.

Information for contributors

  Posters

A room will be available for poster presentations during the two days of the workshop, from 9h to 19h. We are providing support for posters of a maximum size of 90cm (width) x 120cm (height) [A0 format]. The support will be set so that the poster is displayed vertically.

Demonstrations

The room for demonstrations will be open from 9h to 19h on january 16th and 17th. As a demonstrator, you will be provided a table, power sockets, one Internet connection and support for one poster of maximum size A0 [90cm (width) x 120 cm (high)].

It is up to you to bring all the necessary equipment you need to best demonstrate your work. Your computer must be configured to retrieve a dynamic IP address through the DCHP protocol. Please note that no static IP address will be provided.

For security reasons, all inbound (from the standpoint of your demonstration computer) IP traffic will be filtered out, so your computer can not be reached from the outside network. The outbound traffic will be allowed on any port.

Speakers

To minimize time in presentations switching, all presentation will be uploaded on a site computer. Please send your presentation (PowerPoint or PDF format) to francoise.hannecart@cec.eu.int before january, 10 2003.

Call for contributions

Papers for demonstrations, posters and oral contributions presenting original experimental research in parallel and distributed biomedical computations on the cluster or grid environments, knowledge grids and access to federated databases are sought. Papers reporting on original research on platforms other than the grid but presenting future relevance to the grids are also welcome. Areas include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Bio-informatics
  • Biomedical-informatics
  • Medical Informatics
  • Medical Imaging
  • Use of health Networks to deliver GRID applications
An open call is also launched for the session "future of the HealthGRID". This call is for presenting ideas for future collaborations in this domain (networks of excellence, integrated projects or other activity).

Papers will be selected for oral contributions, posters sessions or demonstrations, on scientific content. Schedule for abstract submission:

  • Abstract submission : December 1st, 2002
